Meanwhile, it's been a tough couple weeks for the Jews. The Hamas attacks have been a painful reminder of the Einsatzgruppen death squads of the 1940s. If you're unfamiliar with the term, google it, then plug it into the search box on Netflix. It's one of the more chilling documentaries you're likely to see.
Does it excuse the IDF bombing of civilians? No. But there's no shortage of whataboutist sentiment in America and I'll leave that to more even-handed writers than me.
It reminds me of the sizable pro-Nazi contingent found throughout high American places in the 1940s, all detailed in Rachel Maddow's new book "Prequel." I haven't read it yet but I did listen to the gripping podcast that inspired it.
